As the oldest school on the post, Van Voorhis Elementary needed more than a facelift, it needed a design that balanced modern learning with military-grade performance. The new campus delivers light-filled, collaborative spaces to support over 500 military-connected students. But with expansive glazing and complex architecture, the challenge was clear: create an airtight envelope without compromising the vision.
Above Green conducted whole building air barrier pressure testing, focusing on custom glazing and other high-risk areas prone to air leakage. Working with the A/E and GC teams, we identified vulnerabilities early and ensured the building met USACE standards on time and without setbacks.
Van Voorhis passed at 0.12 CFM/SQFT, far exceeding federal thresholds. The airtight envelope supports LEED requirements with better indoor comfort, energy efficiency, and long-term durability, future-proofing the learning environment for the next generation.
